Overview
This work describes a robot-assisted three-dimensional ultrasound-guided needle-placement concept for breast biopsy. The system requirements were derived by connecting free-hand ultrasound-guided biopsy with whole-breast volumetric reconstruction as part of a clinical workflow.
The study examines how robotic positioning can support trajectory definition and needle alignment while reducing the manual burden placed on the clinician. It represents my early work at the intersection of mechatronics, medical imaging, and clinical robotics.
Research perspective
The project originated in my bachelor’s thesis and became my first substantial research experience in healthcare robotics. It also established the technical foundation for later work on rehabilitation systems, safety-oriented design, and reproducible engineering workflows.
